Aug. 21: The Vista PEAK boys golf team won the EMAC South minor tournament at Springhill G.C., which was scored by just nine holes due to weather that forced teams off the course. Freshman Dawson Thulin topped the field with a score of plus-3 37, which put him two shots ahead of teammate Quezdon Ivey & Rangeview’s Tyler Phillipich. The Bison also finished atop the six-team field (which included Englewood) by an 11-stroke margin over Rangeview…Senior Brooke Vercauteren racked up 11 kills, senior Hannah Needham had nine and senior Ashlyn Carr added eight as the Regis Jesuit volleyball team — which won just two matches all of last season — improved to 1-0 with a 28-30, 25-23, 25-21, 25-14 win at Boulder…The Eaglecrest volleyball team took down Denver East — a Class 5A state qualifier last season — by a 25-16, 23-25, 25-12, 23-25, 15-4 score…Coach Tori Hardy won her first game as Cherokee Trail boys soccer coach as the Cougars rolled past Rock Canyon 5-1…Aug. 18: The Eaglecrest softball team topped Lakewood 11-1 and Columbine 8-5 to finish 3-0 at the Jeffco Icebeaker…Aug. 17: The Vista PEAK softball team pounded out 11 hits and stayed unbeaten with a 10-2 win over visiting Highlands Ranch. Senior pitcher Kayla Russell — who threw a complete game and allowed just four hits and one earned run — helped herself with three hits and an RBI, while senior Kylie Tandy drove in a pair.
