Season highlights: Baker was the biggest stat-stuffer in Aurora basketball during the season and galvanized coach Jason Dixon’s Gateway team on a push to make the Class 5A state playoffs that fell short, but produced a 9-14 record that was three games better than in 2016-17. The All-East Metro Athletic Conference first team selection — known better by his nickname “Man-Man” — led his team in scoring average at 17.1 points per game, which was two points higher than a year ago. Baker finished in double figures in all but three of his 23 games and his 35-point outburst against Chatfield marked the highest-scoring effort for an Aurora player this season. He also paced his team in rebounding at 8.0 per game from a guard position, while his 4.2 assists, 2.7 steals and 0.9 blocked shots also led the Olys. Baker was credited with a double-double seven times.
