There isn’t a person in this world devoid of the acquaintanceship of a Debbie Downer. “The food here is terrible…parties are where you feel most alone…stop laughing, it’s a funeral” — all common statements of the Debbie Downer. In the play Every Brilliant Thing, optimism fights back against the Debbie Downers of the world as the main character rejects the sorrow of their mother’s hospitalization by creating a list of everything wonderful. Starring John Ashton, winner of the Colorado Theatre Guild’s Lifetime Achievement Award, this one-man play is set to be as optimistic as the best of Pixar’s movies.
