DENVER | Police say they have arrested a man accused of breaking several bust sculptures, glass display cabinets and other items inside the Colorado Capitol building.
According to jail records, Elias Dominguez was arrested Friday on suspicion of second-degree burglary.
It is not clear if Dominguez, who is 26, has an attorney to comment.
According to Denver Police, two people identified Dominguez as the man who entered the Capitol based on the building’s surveillance footage. Police say the video showed the man entering the building through a broken security door on Jan. 27 around 2:30 a.m., breaking several bust sculptures, throwing other items off a second-floor balcony and waving at a security camera in the elevator.
Court records say police are testing blood found inside the building for DNA.
