DEAR EDITOR: There’s a real benefit being born and raised in Buffalo, NY — winter driving skills become second nature.
I transplanted to Colorado in 1981 and it helped. Over the past 10 years, I’ve noticed that drivers seem oblivious that there are a lot of other drivers on the road. Being mindful of that and using common sense, especially slowing down, might just make your commute safer in crappy weather, and in general.
A big pet peeve when the snow starts piling up? Clear off the snow from the roof of your vehicle and the back window. That stuff can unexpectedly fly off and hit the person behind you. Are you waiting for an avalanche measurement?
