DEAR EDITOR: A deposit of $4,000 was recently paid (by me) to provide an opportunity for a homeless person to move into a low-rent small apartment. Are high deposits part of the problem of providing living spaces for the homeless?

A problem which seems impossible to resolve politically is the low minimum wage on which people are expected to survive.  Many are homeless because there are not enough dollars to pay for rent, food, and basic necessities.

School lunches (continuing during the summer) are provided for hundreds (thousands?) of children whose families are on the edge of poverty.
