Greeley police shoot armed suspect during confrontation

GREELEY |  Officers in northern Colorado shot and killed a man they say brandished a gun during a confrontation.

The Weld County Sheriff’s Office says the man, whose name and age have not been released, was seen stealing a car in Greeley on Thursday morning. He was seen a short time later with the vehicle, which had crashed into a ditch.

The man ran away when he was confronted by Greeley police officers, who fired less-lethal bean bag rounds at him. Those did not work, and the officers fatally shot him when he allegedly brandished a handgun.

No other information was released.
