7/20: Aurora theater shooting victims remembered at new memorial garden, 6 years after

AURORA | Stories told, memories shared and loved ones remembered as more than 100 people gathered Thursday night into Friday morning for a candlelight vigil at the 7/20 Memorial Foundation Memorial Garden.

The annual event commemorates the 12 dead and 70 injured from the Aurora theater shooting, July 20, 2012.

The vigil began at 11:30 pm giving those in attendance an opportunity to writes words of love and sympathy on 12 crosses, each bearing the names and photos of the victims whose lives were cut short. Well past the midnight hour friends, family members and victims gathered in remembrance of the 12 who lost their lives six years ago in the Aurora theatre shooting.

Held at the new memorial garden, those in attendance were given the opportunity to see the new statue Ascencia which features 83 cranes, each representing a victim of that tragic night July 20, 2012.
