BOULDER, Colo. | The University of Colorado says it is bringing in the dean of Marquette’s communications school to head a new media program on its Boulder campus.

In a statement Wednesday, CU said Lori Bergen begins work July 20.

Last June, the CU Board of Regents approved formation of the College of Media, Communication and Information, which includes such departments as advertising, journalism and information science.

Bergen has been dean of Marquette’s J. William and Mary Diederich College of Communication since 2009 and has held administrative and teaching positions in journalism and communications departments at Kansas State, where she earned a master’s in journalism; Texas State; Southwest Texas State; and Wichita State.
