QUIDNUNC: Local Dems and hacks get relief from bad Sirota’s Bern budge

Quidnunc, whose name comes from the Latin “what now,” is out and about as often as possible  to bring you news overheard in elevators, rest rooms and spied in various e-mail boxes.

QUID HAS HEARD that the huff heard ‘round Aurora will probably never be overheard again. Seems that hizzoner at this week’s municipal melodrama rehearsal, aka study session, continued his new habit of stepping out early, before the real show goes on in the Council Star Chamber. Recently after a heated squabble among the deities on the dais, Mayor Bob LeGare made what looked like and sounded like a huffy exit, ducking the meeting and turning it over to Aurora’s very No. 2, Mayor Pro Tem Bob Roth. Your faithful affiant of course reported the salacious snit. This week, hizzoner made a point while leaving early, for what can only be anything more interesting than the DRCOG report, No. 1 made it clear he was leaving on the friendliest and most amicable of circumstances. Nicely done.

QUID HAS HEARD that a host of Colorado Democrats and hacks felt relief this week instead of The Bern as the many hatted David Sirota made the leap to the presidential campaign of Sen. Bernie Sanders. Sirota, who once penned things for the Guardian and Newsweek, has of late become a Colorado nemesis of, well, just about everybody. Strike that. Quid hears everyone across the state would rather spend time listening to Sen. Cory Gardner defend his velvet handcuffs to President Donald Trump than spend any time listening to Sirota. He’s the guy who tweets scorched earth on everything but Bernie and his state legislating wife, state Rep. Emily Sirota. That would be the past particles of Twitter bombs, seeing how he reportedly deleted about 20,000 missiles after officially announcing the job with The Bern. Only the lucky few don’t know the Denver House rep. is his wife. Even The Atlantic last week found Sirota nearly as interesting as he finds himself, penning a story about how polarizing he is, even among those who were previously obligated to like him. Sirota has flung so much Twitter poo across Colorado that journos and Dems ran to the front of the parade to march him out of the Colorado news scene and onto the national presidential campaign stage. Quid overheard one well-placed hack smarm that Sirota is everything people from here would never want to be, and that every one from here just wants him to be gone.
